FELONY ARREST IN THE VILLAGE OF GENESEO

GENESEO - Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Livingston County Jail Inmate on felony charges after Deputy Sheriff’s found the Inmate to be in possession of dangerous contraband inside the facility.

These charges stem from an investigation that began on August 23^rd, 2026 at about 4:00 p.m., when Deputy Sheriff’s assigned to the Jail Division were made aware that an inmate identified as 25-year-old Gavin Lynch of Geneseo, was in possession of dangerous contraband.

As a result of the investigation, Lynch was arrested and charged with felony Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree.

Lynch was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail in front of the Town of Geneseo Justice Huston. The Judge did remand Lynch to the Custody of the Sheriff with no bail due to Lynch having two or more previous felony convictions.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented Lynch at the arraignment for his defense.  The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was also present at the arraignment to represent the People. 

Assisting with this investigation was the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Jail Division.
