FELONY ARREST IN THE TOWN OF AVON

On May 28th, 2026 at approximately 7:07 pm, Deputy Jerry Pilkenton was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Highway Patrol Unit when he observed a vehicle operating south on Interstate 390 in violation of sections of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. The Deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the operator as 61-year-old Scott Durso of Geneseo, NY.
The Deputy suspected that there was drug activity in the vehicle and conducted a roadside drug investigation. As a result of the investigation, Durso was found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine.
Durso was arrested and charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree and violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Durso was transported and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention. Durso was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Groveland Justice Bean. The Judge did release Durso on his own recognizance as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the NYS Bail Reform Act.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented Durso at the court arraignment for his defense. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was also present to represent the People.
