On April 8th, 2026 at approximately 6:13 pm, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of Harper Parkway in the Town of Avon for the reported motor vehicle crash involving a UTV. Contact was made with the operator, who was identified as 72-year-old Clifford Greer. Deputies on scene suspected that Greer was under the influence of alcohol. Deputy Hayden Strobel of the Sheriff’s Office STOP DWI Unit conducted a DWI investigation which ultimately led to a blood sample being secured to determine Greer’s blood alcohol content (BAC).Â
During the initial investigation, it was found that Greer was operating the UTV while having a revoked NYS Driver’s License. Greer’s operating privilege was revoked due to a prior DWI related offense.Â
The blood sample secured from Greer did reveal that his blood alcohol content (BAC) the day of the crash was .18%.
On June 6th, 2026, Deputy Strobel arrested Greer and charged him with felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the First Degree, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Greer was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention. Greer was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) before Town of Caledonia Justice Mackay. The Judge did remand Greer to the custody of the Sheriff without the possibility of bail due to him having two or more prior felony convictions.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented Greer at the court arraignment for his defense. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office also appeared to represent the People.Â
Assisting with the investigation for the Sheriff’s Office were members of the Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations Division.
