FELONY ARREST IN THE TOWN OF AVON

AVON – Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of an Avon resident on felony charges following an investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office. 

On March 27th, 2026, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence on Hillside Drive in the Town of Avon for the report of a larceny of a motor vehicle. 

Sheriff’s Deputies began an investigation into the Grand Larceny and through the investigation, the suspect was identified as 24-year-old Makayla Baker from the Town of Avon.  On March 31st, 2026, Deputy Cheyenne Masiello arrested Baker and charged her with felony Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and felony Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree.

Baker was transported and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention.  Baker was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Mt. Morris Justice Ossont.  The Judge did release Baker on her own recognizance as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the NYS Bail Reform Act.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented Baker at the court arraignment for her defense.  The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office also appeared to represent the People. 

Assisting with the investigation were members of the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, Forensic Identification Unit, and Criminal Investigations Division.
