FELONY ARREST IN THE TOWN OF GENESEO

GENESEO - Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Genesee County resident on felony charges following an investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

On October 4th, 2026 at approximately 10:30 pm, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Genesee Valley Plaza in the Town of Geneseo for the reported motor vehicle crash.  Deputies arrived on scene and met with one of the involved individuals who was identified as 19-year-old Matthew Henry of Pavilion. 

It is alleged through the investigation of the crash that Henry had intentionally ran his vehicle into the other vehicle involved, causing damage.

Henry was arrested and charged with felony Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, misdemeanor Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree and Reckless Driving.

Henry was transported and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.  He was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of West Sparta Justice Mahany.  The Judge did release Henry on his own recognizance, as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the NYS Bail Reform Act.The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented Henry at the court arraignment for his defense. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was notified and also appeared to represent the People.

Assisting with the investigation for the Sheriff’s Office were members of the Patrol Division, the Criminal Investigations Division and the Forensic Identification Unit.
