LIMA - Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Monroe County resident on felony Driving While Intoxicated charges following an investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

On October 24th, 2026 at approximately 7:24 pm, Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Cicero, who is assigned to the Sheriff’s Office STOP DWI Unit, conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Dollar General Store in the Town of Lima after observing the vehicle violating the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Contact was made with the operator who was identified as 23-year-old Eric Wilson of East Rochester NY.  During the initial encounter with Wilson, the Deputy Sheriff suspected that he was possibly under the influence of alcohol.  Deputy Cicero did conduct a DWI Investigation, which included the performance of standardized field sobriety tests.  At the completion of the roadside investigation, Wilson was taken into custody for DWI.

Wilson did have a twelve-year-old juvenile in the vehicle as a passenger, making this arrest a felony under Leandra’s Law.

Wilson was then transported to the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters in Geneseo, where he was offered a breathalyzer to determine his blood alcohol content (BAC).  Deputy Dan Nichols of the Jail Division did administer the test, which revealed that Wilson had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .21%.

Wilson was charged with felony Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law), misdemeanor Endangering the Welfare of a Child and violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.Wilson was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.  He was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Caledonia Justice Mackay.  The Judge did release Wilson on his own recognizance, as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the NYS Bail Reform Act.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented Wilson at the court arraignment for his defense.  The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was also present to represent the People.
