LEICESTER - Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of three Mt. Morris residents on felony charges following an investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

On October 25th, 2026 at approximately 3:25 pm, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Mt. Morris Road in the Town of Leicester for the delayed report of a domestic incident that had taken place on October 4th, 2026.

It is alleged through the investigation that 27-year-old Nathan May had gotten into a verbal and physical argument with a female, and during the physical altercation, he did cause physical injury to her.

May was located by Sheriff’s Deputies in the Village of Mt. Morris.  Sheriff’s Deputy Evan Wolfanger arrested and charged May with felony Aggravated Family Offense, misdemeanor Assault in the Third Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

While taking May into custody, 52-year-old Bruce May and 25-year-old Montel May, both of Mt. Morris attempted to obstruct Deputies during the course of the investigation and effecting the arrest.  As a result, Bruce May was arrested and charged with felony Assault on a Police Officer, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree and Resisting Arrest.  Montel May was arrested and charged with felony Assault on a Police Officer, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest and Harassment in the Second Degree. All three were transported and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention.  The trio were later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Springwater Justice Johnson.  The Judge did release Nathan May on his own recognizance, as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the NYS Bail Reform Act.  Bruce May was remanded to the Custody of the Sheriff without the possibility of bail due to him having two or more prior felony convictions.  The District Attorney’s Office recommended that Montel May be held on $5,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.  The Judge did remand Montel May to the custody of the Sheriff on the recommended bail.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented all three at the court arraignments for their defense. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was notified and did also appear to represent the people.

Assisting with the investigation for the Sheriff’s Office were members of the Patrol Division and Forensic Identification Unit.
