FELONY ARREST IN THE TOWN OF GROVELAND

GROVELAND - Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Dansville resident on felony and misdemeanor charges following an investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

On September 15^th, 2026 at approximately 4:45 pm, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in the Village of Dansville for the delayed report of a domestic incident that had taken place in the Town of Groveland.  It is alleged that 45-year-old Daniel Vanskiver of Dansville had gotten into the domestic dispute with the Victim while there was an active Order of Protection in place, protecting the Victim from Vanskiver.

Vanskiver was arrested and charged with felony Aggravated Family Offense, misdemeanor Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree and Harassment in the Second Degree.

Vanskiver was transported and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.  He was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Conesus Justice Coyne.  The Judge did remand Vanskiver to the Custody of the Sheriff without the possibility of bail due to him having two or more prior felony convictions.The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented Vanskiver at the court arraignment for his defense. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was notified and did also appear to represent the People.
