FELONY ARREST IN THE VILLAGE OF GENESEO

On August 24th, 2026 at approximately 11:05 am, Jail Division Deputies observed 42-year-old Matthew McCracken, who is currently an incarcerated individual, break the window in his cell door.
McCracken was arrested by Jail Division Sergeant Matthew Romanowski and charged with felony Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree.
McCracken was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Geneseo Justice Houston. The Judge did remand McCracken to the Custody of the Sheriff without the possibility of bail due to him having two or more prior felony convictions.The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented McCracken at the court arraignment for his defense. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office also appeared to represent the People.
Assisting with the investigation were members of the Sheriff’s Office Jail Division and the Criminal Investigations Division.
