FELONY ARREST IN THE VILLAGE OF GENESEO

LIVONIA/GENESEO - Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of an Ohio resident on felony charges following an investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

On October 1st, 2026, Deputy Caleb Nellis of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop after witnessing an infraction of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law in the Town of Livonia. The individual identified himself as Ryan Brickman, however information received indicated that the individual being interviewed was actually Charles Brickman of Painesville, Ohio who was wanted on a probation violation.

Brickman was placed into custody but still contended that he was not Charles Brickman. While being booked into the Livingston County Jail, Brickman’s identity was confirmed through his fingerprint submission. Brickman was charged with False Personation, a class B misdemeanor along with Fugitive from Justice regarding the active warrant issued out of Ohio.

Livingston County Sheriff’s Investigator James Merrick was notified of the investigation inside the facility due to Brickman giving false information while being booked into the Livingston County Jail. Investigator Merrick later arrested Brickman regarding the false entry that had been made by Brickman while being processed in at the Livingston County Jail. Brickman was charged with one count of felony Forgery in the Second Degree, and one count of Criminal Impersonation in the Second Degree.

Brickman is currently being held at the Livingston County Jail. Brickman will be extradited back to Ohio at a later date. 

The investigation was handled by Investigator James Merrick of the Criminal Investigation Division and assisted by other members of the Correctional Services Bureau along with the Patrol Division.
