RECENT UPDATE IN THE ROSE MARIE GAYHART CASE

On May 27, 2026, The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, received confirmation from a laboratory in Texas that DNA previously secured from family members of Rose had been used to positively identify human remains that had been found in a canal located in Cape Coral, Florida.
The remains were discovered by a citizen in Cape Coral in May of 2024. The DNA used to assist confirming the identity of the human remains was secured by members of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office in 2007.
The homicide case still remains open with the Cape Coral Police Department in Florida.
