FELONY ARREST IN THE TOWN OF AVON

On April 3rd, 2026 at approximately 8:52 pm, Sheriff’s Investigator Shawn Whitford conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 390 in the Town of Avon after observing a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. Contact was made with the operator of the vehicle, who was identified as 36-year-old Tyrone Young Jr. of Rochester. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as 36-year-old Brittany Duraisamy, also of Rochester.
The Investigator suspected that there was drug activity in the vehicle and conducted a roadside drug investigation. As a result of the investigation, Duraisamy and Young were both found to be in possession of Cocaine. It was also discovered that Duraisamy was additionally in possession of Ecstasy (MDMA) and Crack Cocaine.
Young was arrested and charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Second Degree and violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.Â
Duraisamy was also arrested and charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree.
Young and Duraisamy were transported and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention. Both were later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Mt. Morris Justice Ossont. The Judge did remand both Young and Duraisamy to the custody of the Sheriff without the possibility of bail. Young was found to have two or more prior felony convictions and Duraisamy was held due to the Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree being a class A-II felony.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented Young and Duraisamy at the court arraignment for their defense. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was also present to represent the People.Â
